The benefits of becoming a Bright Futures Educator
When you join us, you’re not just starting a job - you’re building a career that fits around your whānau, your lifestyle, and your love for tamariki.
Self-employment and competitive income
You decide when you work, what you charge, and how many tamariki you care for, giving you real control over your earning potential. We’ll guide you in setting fair rates and support you with the admin side of your business, so you can focus on what matters most.
Many Educators find that, with flexible hours and tax-free allowances, they take home more than in traditional ECE roles. Bright Futures also offers fortnightly resource payments to Educators, to support high-quality ECE in the home.
Resources, tools and ongoing support
You’ll never be on your own. We walk alongside you offering resources, tools and ongoing support:
- Free First Aid training.
- Guidance through registration, setup, and marketing.
- Support to design meaningful learning experiences guided by Te Whāriki.
- Free monthly curriculum packs and bicultural resources.
- Mentoring, professional development, and regular catch ups with Visiting Teachers.
- Branded clothing that reflects your professionalism and sense of belonging.
- Term newsletters sharing relevant information and celebrating the mahi of our Educators.
Community connection
You’ll join a close-knit community of Educators across Hawke’s Bay, with opportunities to connect at regular playgroups, group outings and fun community events. Something that makes Bright Futures unique is our connection to Weave Hawke’s Bay – a not-for-profit social service supporting whānau across the region for over 40 years. You’ll have access to wraparound support, including financial mentoring, counselling, kai support and whānau education programmes.
Business support that makes life easier
We take care of the tricky stuff, from invoicing and chasing payments, to supporting you to promote your service. Each Educator has their own website profile, social media promotion, and flyer templates and signage to help grow your business.
We provide you with technology to make your job easier. You’ll get a tablet when you start, to record child attendance, as well as software to help document children’s learning stories to share with families in real time.
Insurance and peace of mind
It’s a significant responsibility to care for children in your home. Recognising this, all Bright Futures Educators are covered by free statutory and public liability insurance, giving you confidence and protection. This is part of the NZ Home-Based Association Educator Membership you’ll receive free of charge as a Bright Future Educator.
A local team that’s got your back
From our Visiting Teachers to our admin and leadership teams, Bright Futures and the broader Weave Hawke’s Bay whānau are here to support you every step of the way. You’re part of something bigger - helping tamariki grow, learn and thrive across our communities.
