Home based learning

Support your child’s early development in a caring home environment

  • Small ratios of Educators to children (1:4 maximum) for personalised care and education, tailored learning experiences and strong support for children’s individual needs.
  • A consistent and dedicated Educator for your child who supports their emotional wellbeing and provides a sense of security.
  • Variety with outings, playgroups and excursions, while maintaining a consistent and calm routine.
  • Flexible hours to fit your whānau schedule.
  • Small group settings mean fewer germs are shared and tamariki often stay healthier. Home-based settings support strong social-emotional growth and set children up for lifelong learning.
  • You can meet available Educators to determine who is a good fit for your child and whānau.
  • All Educators have been through a selection process, background checks, hold a current first aid certificate and will be ECE trained, or in training, and be continually supported by a Visiting Teacher.
  • We offer affordable care options and childcare subsidies are available, depending on your circumstances.
  • We are a licensed home-based service provider with the Ministry of Education. We adhere to specific governance and management, health and safety, curriculum and other criteria. Read more about the licensing criteria for home-based ECE services here.

At Bright Futures we know young children learn best through play. They develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills which are fundamental to healthy development and lifelong learning.

Our Educators, supported by our Visiting Teachers, create rich, play-based learning experiences every day. Tamariki explore through reading and storytelling, messy play, music and movement, baking, gardening, and outdoor adventures. Educators also take children to local playgroups and community outings, helping tamariki grow curiosity, independence, and connection to the world around them.

Bright Futures follows Te Whāriki, the New Zealand early childhood curriculum. Visiting Teachers visit regularly, track your child's progress, and support Educators by linking to Te Whāriki principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. They notice what sparks your child’s interest and record their progress, celebrating each new stage of learning and growth.

Educators also keep a profile of your child's activities, language, and artwork. We encourage ongoing communication to support your child's wellbeing and development. Educators and Visiting Teachers are happy to discuss your child's progress anytime.
