Meet Mel
Hi, my name is Mel, and I am located in Clive.
I am a qualified Educator with a National Nanny Certificate and a Level 5 Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I’ve been working in childcare for over 25 years, and I still love every moment of it.
Being a “home away from home” for tamariki is what I find most rewarding—watching little ones grow, achieve, and blossom while forming great friendships in a smaller, nurturing environment.
My approach to early childhood education is simple: play, explore and learn—while having fun and making lasting memories. At my home, children enjoy all sorts of activities including lounge play, dress-ups, water play, art, baking, music, and outdoor fun.
We also love getting out and about with regular trips to Jump Start Music, Bright Futures playgroups, nature walks, picnics, playgrounds, and even bike rides at the local bike park.
Home-based education gives children a strong, supportive home environment and the freedom to explore the world around them. I value the connections we build with other Educators and their tamariki—it’s a real community.
I’m very family-focused, with a husband, an adult son, and a teenage son. Rugby and motocross keep us busy, and we love spending quiet family time outdoors, hunting and fishing. Early childhood education isn’t just my job—it’s my passion.
