Meet Sonia
Hi, my name is Sonia, and I am located in Greenmeadows, Napier.
I have over 39 years of experience in early childhood education—17 years in centre-based care and 22 years in home-based care. The most rewarding part of my job is building close, trusting relationships with children, which helps foster a strong sense of attachment and belonging.
My teaching philosophy centres around providing a nurturing, play-based environment where children can develop self-confidence, creativity, and autonomy while embracing their individuality. I aim to support their mental, social, and emotional growth in a warm, caring space.
At home, the children enjoy activities like dress-ups, water play, and exploring the mud kitchen, sandpit, and backyard swings. We also love going on adventures beyond the home, such as library visits, music and dance groups, nature walks, and trips to the aquarium or museum.
Home-based education allows me to focus on each child’s needs with a small group ratio, offering flexibility to take children on excursions that expand their learning.
