Is Bright Futures the right choice for my child?
If you’re looking for a trusted, locally based home-based service, Bright Futures is a great choice. We’ve been supporting Hawke’s Bay whānau for more than 20 years, with Educators across the region. Our Educators receive strong professional development and resources, and we host local playgroups and regular excursions that bring Educators and tamariki together for shared learning and fun.

Do you participate in the government’s 20-hour ECE subsidy for children 3 years and over?
Yes, we do. Learn more about the detail on our Fees & Subsidies page.
Am I eligible for a WINZ Childcare subsidy?
Eligibility depends on your income and family size. You can find out more on the Work and Income site here, or check out our Fees & Subsides page.
We’re happy to talk to you about the subsidy and assist with the application process - just call us on 0508 678 910 or contact us here.
How do I enrol my child?
Simply fill out our enquiry form, and we’ll be in touch to discuss your specific needs.
How quickly can my child start care?
We know families often need care quickly. Once your paperwork is complete and we’ve matched you with an Educator who has space, your child can usually start within a few days.
You say Bright Futures offers learning as well as care – what do you mean?
Bright Futures is more than childcare — it’s early learning in a home setting. Our Educators follow Te Whāriki, the New Zealand early childhood curriculum, which guides tamariki to grow in confidence, curiosity, and connection with others.
Because learning happens in a nurturing home environment with small groups, tamariki receive more individual attention and can learn at their own pace — through everyday play, discovery, and meaningful relationships.
What training do Educators have?
All Educators must hold a current First Aid Certificate. Educators will have at least a Level 4 Certificate in ECE or be actively working towards this qualification. We encourage all our Educators to continually upskill, and we provide regular professional development opportunities.
What happens if my child is unwell?
If your child is sick, they need to stay at home. As soon as practical, let your Educator know directly if your child is unwell and unable to attend. If your child becomes sick during care, your Educator will contact you to come and pick them up. Ministry of Education requires children that are sick to stay home and prevent the spread of the illness and help them recover faster. Usually, you’ll be charged for care even when your child is absent. This will be covered in your Educator Conditions of Service.
What if the Educator is unwell?
Your Educator will let you know as early as they can. If they are closed, due to being unwell, or another reason, they are not likely to charge you. However, this will be covered in your Educator Conditions of Service. If you require alternative care if your Educator is not available, you need to contact the main Bright Futures office urgently to see if we can arrange alternative care for your child with another Educator.
